Chandler; A Perfect Destination For Families
June 19, 2009.

Chandler, Arizona was named after a veterinarian Dr  A J Chandler, who settled in the area. It is located in the east valley, in the southeast part of the greater Phoenix area. Most of the north and south streets in the original town site were named after states, and most of the east and west streets were named after american cities. There was also a billboard marking the site of the elegant future hotel San Marcos. He envisioned a landscaped central park that would be surrounded by businesses. But agriculture was still crops. Farmers also raised cattle, sheep and ostriches. Ostrich feathers were used to beautify popular women's fashions. Family festivals such as the ostrich festival, and a host of other annual events, make Chandler a popular draw for travelers from all across the country. The center for the arts, new parks, restaurants and retail centers spot an exciting future for the city.

Downtown Chandler becomes the place to surf local artists' work and visit the downtown merchants and restaurants. You'll see many varieties of art displayed and for sale at the downtown Chandler art walk in Chandler. Photographs, pottery, blown glass, original paintings, jewelry, sculptures and more line the sidewalks. Hundreds of people attend the art walk in Chandler each month. Historic downtown Chandler offers several spots where you can rest from your browsing and enjoy some snacks, some coffee and dessert, or a glass of wine. You won't see any imported or manufactured items here. Jewelry artists must either create or design their own jewelry, and only hand-made crafts are allowed.

Another beautiful place to visit in Chandler is the veterans oasis park. It’s simply a recreational area with grass and paths and a pond. This is actually an important part of the Chandler's domesticated water processing where treated wastewater is redistributed to make better basins in the area. There is an environmental education center that focuses on nature-based programs about conservation, local flora and fauna, and understanding and enjoying our desert. The hiking and biking trails afford visitors the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the wetland area on their own. There are also guided bird walks, fishing clinics, guided hikes, evening walks and family nature walks. Veterans oasis park is just a lovely spot to take the family for some play time and a picnic. All ages can enjoy nature-related programs at veterans oasis park and the environmental education center. Enjoy a variety of amenities including a zero depth play pool, current river, two water slides and an eight-lane competition pool at the hamilton aquatic centre.
The other interesting place everyone would like to visit is the Chandler fashion center, also known as Chandler mall, a new concept in shopping experiences. With branded stores like nordstrom, dillard's, macy's and sears; and restaurants such as the cheesecake factory; this one million plus square foot development has something for everyone. The other features of the mall is an outdoor urban village, which is home to a harkins 20-plex cinema and many restaurants including P F Chang's, BJ's restaurant and brewery, kona grill, garduno's, big city grill and others. The mall also is home to the Boulevard shops.
